Stella Wing-yan Tsui

Performance Maker / Performer / Curator / Producer / Translator

Graduated from Lingnan University with a BA in Cultural Studies (1st Class Honours) in Hong Kong and currently based in Australia, Stella is a performance maker, a performer, a producer and a translator active in different art fields.


As an artist who has been focusing on human experiences and breaking boundaries in art, Stella loves to linger around edges of definitions and provoke the imagination of people towards arts via various roles. Apart from mainstream dance training in Hong Kong, she studied Butoh with renowned Butoh artists Yukio Waguri and Yumiko Yoshioka.


Her recent works include Lighthouse, (Choosing) Pornography, Please Mind the Gap and Preconscious Impact.


Other than arts making, Stella is keen on curating / organizing interesting arts projects. She was funded by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council to intern at ImPulsTanz in Vienna for educational projects ATLAS and Biblioteca do Corpo® in 2016. She was also awarded W.T. Chan Fellowship and went to UCLA to study social entrepreneurship and work at an arts education NGO, P.S. ARTS in Los Angeles in 2011.


Stella has co-produced / co-curated visual arts and performing arts events in Hong Kong such as a one-day art hunt Guest Host Ghost; the Hong Kong Jockey Club Contemporary Dance Series with Hong Kong Arts Festival; Hong Kong Contemporary, HKC Budget Art Fair with Concrete Wall Creation Ltd., New Art Hong Kong, 2014 Spring Art Collection and Twinkle with tumtum.hk and Roger Lin Studio.


Stella is one of the founding members of Sea My Movie, an independent film screening organization aiming at showing foreign movies never shown in Hong Kong for free at alternative spaces.
