Brian Chung-wai Ting obtained his Master of Music in composition in Chinese University of Hong Kong, under the supervision of Prof. Wendy Lee. He also studied composition with Prof. Victor Chan and Dr. Lo Hau Man.
His music has been premiered by Atlas Ensemble, Hong Kong Windpipe, Hong Kong Kamerata, Trio de TST and Chinese Music Virtuosi. His recent work, Anamnesis was commissioned by Hong Kong Composers' Guild and was premiered by Hong Kong Windpipe in Musicarama 2015. His composition for Chinese Music Virtuosi, Slashes of Frost and Wind, was awarded both the David Gwilt Composition Prize and audience prize. His composition Flower Burial under a Pallid Moon won the second prize in New Generation 2012 organized by Hong Kong Composers' Guild. Please Open the Curtain was selected and premiered by Atlas Ensemble in Amsterdam.
For theatre, he often doubles as a live musician and a sound designer. He is the sound designer for the Run, Melos, Run!, Around in Wong Tai Sin, Siddhartha, Lighthouse, Fu Kong and The Isle.
He is also an active composer of film music. His film score includes, Sick, picked for screening in IAWRT film festival, Fish, Prawn, Crab, a selection in New Wave 2013, and “Life Begins at 100”.
